Job Summary

RG Miller | DCCM is seeking a CAD Designer I with 5+ years of experience in water and wastewater facility design. The ideal candidate will assist in preparing detailed engineering drawings and plans for pump stations, lift stations, forcemains, sanitary sewer systems, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and water treatment plants (WTP).

This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D and a strong understanding of municipal and industrial water/wastewater infrastructure. The selected candidate will work closely with engineers and project managers to develop high-quality, compliant design plans that support critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and modify detailed design drawings for water and wastewater facility projects.
• Support engineers in preparing exhibits and any plans for design & presentation.
• Create site plans, piping layouts, sections, and construction details using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• Implement design revisions based on feedback from engineers and clients.
• Maintain and update base drawings while ensuring adherence to company and client standards.
• Manage and organize CAD files, ensuring consistency in layering standards and drawing templates.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and electrical teams to integrate designs seamlessly.
• Ensure drawings comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
• Assist with quality control (QC) reviews, verifying accuracy and completeness of design documents.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and project requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• 5+ years of experience in CAD drafting and design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
• Experience developing drawings for pump stations, lift stations, forcemains, sanitary sewer, WWTP, and WTP.
• Knowledge of piping systems, grading, site layout, and hydraulic structures.
• Familiarity with municipal codes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients.
• Ability to interpret and apply engineering design standards and specifications.

Preferred:

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Design, or a related field.
• Experience with GIS, BIM, or other infrastructure modeling tools.
• Familiarity with structural, mechanical, and electrical coordination in water/wastewater projects.
